Saptaswara was established in 1995 by a group of ardent music lovers led by Sri B. Gopalan, with the sole objective of promoting classical music and allied art forms. From its inception, the organization has been actively engaged in conducting concerts and curating meaningful cultural programmes that uphold tradition and artistic excellence.
In the year 2000, the members of the organization unanimously entrusted the responsibility of Saptaswara to Sri K. S. R. Balakrishna Sastry, who went on to lead the Sabha with unwavering dedication for over two decades. Under his visionary stewardship, Saptaswara evolved into a respected cultural platform, hosting monthly concerts, commemorating the birth anniversaries of the Musical Trinity, and celebrating eminent composers, musicians, and stalwarts spanning from ancient times to recent generations.
Guided by a spirit of selfless service, Sri Balakrishna Sastry garu nurtured Saptaswara as a space where distinguished Vidwans could showcase their artistic brilliance, while also serving as a launch pad for several young and upcoming talents who have since grown into accomplished and holistic artists.
This rich legacy now continues under the leadership of Sri Purihella Bharadwaj, who carries forward the responsibility with deep reverence for the past and a clear vision for the future, ensuring that Saptaswara remains a vibrant and purposeful cultural institution for generations to come.
